Mazak Showcased SYNCREX Swiss-type Machining with 5-Axis Capability at IMTS 2026

FLORENCE, Ky., September 14, 2026 – With a complete line of Swiss-type machines, Mazak demonstrated its SYNCREX 38/9X Swiss-type Production Turning Machine with 5-axis machining capability at IMTS 2026. For the high-speed production of small, precision parts, the SYNCREX Series encompasses machine bar stock capacities ranging from 0.393" (10mm) to 1.5" (38mm).

The SYNCREX 38/9X is powered by 10 hp (7.5 kW) main and counter spindles, each capable of 8,000 rpm. The machine has impressive rapid traverse rates of 1,378 ipm (35,000mm/min) in the X1, X2, Y1, Y2, Z1 and Z2 axes.

The SYNCREX 38/9X is a 9-axis model that adds six live tools and a programmable B-axis that works at either the main or counter spindle. Like other SYNCREX models, the 38 Series uses a removable guide bushing adapter, which enables operators to preset the guide bushing outside the machine. The machine is “convertible” and can easily be changed over to run in chucker/non-guide bushing mode. This adds to the machine’s flexibility and allows shops to efficiently run those non-traditional Swiss-style parts.

Like all models in the series, the SYNCREX 38/9X is a sliding headstock machine constructed on the Mazak High Damping Composite Casting (HDCC). This unique high-rigidity base provides greater vibration-damping characteristics, less thermal growth and greater part surface capabilities when compared to a cast iron base machine.

All SYNCREX machine models come equipped with Mazak’s MAZATROL SmoothSt CNC. Mazak also offers the optional MT Tablet for the SYNCREX series with either ESPRIT, Mastercam or Autodesk-PartMaker CAD/CAM software bundles to further maximize productivity.
