Mazak VARIAXIS i-800T Showcased 5-Axis Machining and Turning at IMTS 2026

FLORENCE, Ky., September 14, 2026 – Mazak demonstrated the VARIAXIS i-800T Machining Center that combines full simultaneous 5-axis machining and turning (T) for Multi-Tasking capability and processing parts in the fewest number of setups. With this combination, the machine performs gear-face machining, grooving and variable lead threading operations in addition to milling and turning.

Utilizing a full gantry-style construction, the machine has a 31.5" diameter turntable with a C-axis travel of +/- 360°, while its A-axis provides -130° and +30° of tilt. Maximum part size for the table are those measuring up to 36.37” in diameter, 14.76" high, and weighing as much as 2,205 lbs.

As standard, the machine is outfitted with a CAT-50, 10,000-rpm, 40-hp spindle, and it allows tool changes without returning the table to its home position. An ATC stores 30 tools up to 4.92" in diameter and as big as 8.27" with adjacent tools and with a maximum tool length of 16".

With Mazak’s MAZATROL SmoothAi control, the VARIAXIS i-800T ensures easy programming for complex full simultaneous toolpaths as well as high-speed turning. The control uses cutting-edge digital technologies such as AI and digital twins and not only enhances operability but also reduces programming and setup time, shortens cycle time, and stabilizes machining accuracy.

For loading and unloading big and heavy parts, the machine has an automatic retractable top cover.
