Mazak Hosts Inaugural Open House Event for Phoenix Technical Center

FLORENCE, Ky., March 2, 2026 – This spring, Mazak Corporation will host its inaugural DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK Phoenix Open House event from April 28-29 at the Mazak Phoenix Technical Center. The event will feature live cutting demonstrations on a wide range of advanced machining technology, including Swiss-type production turning, Multi-Tasking, 5-axis and Kentucky-built vertical machining, and next-generation horizontal machining. Attendees will also meet with industry experts to discuss modern manufacturing’s latest innovations and insights. 

“This new Technical Center will support all manufacturers in the greater Phoenix Valley area,” said Tony Harrod, Regional Manager of the Mazak Phoenix Technical Center. “Whether those customers are in the semiconductor, aerospace and defense, electric vehicle or medical device industries, Mazak is well entrenched in every major industry in terms of experience and application knowhow.”  

Located at 2675 West Buckeye Rd. in Phoenix, Ariz., the recently opened technical center provides service and support for manufacturers throughout the Western United States. The technical center houses a call center, applications engineers and sales and service support personnel. It also provides customer programming classes, machine demonstrations, test cuts and machining system run-offs. In addition, the Phoenix center will host DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK technology and education events like the one coming up in April.

Manufacturers attending the event can see the SYNCREX 38/9 Swiss-type Production Turning Machine in action. For high-volume production of small, precise parts, the SYNCREX 38/9Swiss-Type Turning Machine is built on Mazak’s High Damping Composite Casting (HDCC). The unique high-rigidity base provides greater vibration-damping characteristics, less thermal growth, longer tool life and greater part surface capabilities than cast-iron base machines.

The SYNCREX 38/9 handles bar stock up to 1.5 (38 mm) and allows shops to run full bar capacity with no special bar end preparation. The machine’s 9-axis configuration is standard with 10HP (7.5 kW) main and second spindles, four cross-working live tools on the main spindle, and a 9,000-rpm B-axis tool spindle as well as up to six live tools and a Y-axis for the counter spindle. Total machine tool capacity is 39 tool positions.

At the event, Mazak will also showcase the INTEGREX i-200H ST Multi-Tasking Center to demonstrate part-processing agility with the power of a full CNC turning center and the versatility of a full-function machining center. For DONE IN ONE^® machining, the INTEGREX i-200H ST features a second turning spindle (S), along with a milling spindle and lower turret (T) with optional rotary tool capabilities. This configuration boosts productivity with minimal fixturing, less part handling and reduced non-cut time. The main spindle incorporates an 8" chuck and generates a maximum speed of 5,000 rpm from a 30 HP (22 kW) spindle motor. The maximum machining diameter is 23.62" (600 mm), and the main spindle’s 15.75" (400 mm) over the lower turret and diameter bore accommodates bar stock diameters up to 2.05 (52 mm); optional 2.6 (66 mm). 

Another Multi-Tasking machining option for event guests, the QUICK TURN 350MY will highlight part-processing versatility with its maximum machining diameter of 17" (431.8 mm) and a maximum workpiece length of 81.09" (2060 mm) for the 80" bed length version of the machine. A turning center with Multi-Tasking capability, the machine tool has a bar diameter capacity of 4" (102 mm), and equipped with a 12" (304.8 mm) chuck, the main spindle uses a 40 hp (30 kW) motor that provides a maximum spindle speed of 4,000 rpm. The 10.0 hp (7.4 kW) rotary tool turret spindle offers a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm and a 12-tool capacity.

For automated operation, Mazak pairs the QUICK TURN 350MY with its Mazak Ez LOADER 30. The system uses a cobot with a 30kg load capacity, pendant timeline programming and multiple pallet loading and unloading. Advanced vision technology allows shops to relocate and reposition the loader without having to realign the cobot to the machine.

For shops looking to implement 5-axis machining into their production, the VARIAXIS C-600 will also be on site for the open house. It offers four spindle options that allow shops to find the ideal balance of speed and power. In addition to the standard 12,000 rpm CAT40 spindle, 15,000 rpm, 18,000 rpm and 20,000 rpm options are available in CAT 40, Big Plus or HSK A-63 types. The featured HSK A-63 High Torque 15,000 rpm spindle with a motor output of 46/37 kW (40% ED/cont.) and a torque of 200/131 Nm (40% ED/cont.) delivers an effective cost-to-performance ratio and is well-suited for machining nickel alloys, steel, cast iron and aluminum. Options for VARIAXIS C-600 tool magazines include 30, 60, 90 and 120-tool capacities.

For reliable machine-tool performance and lower capital investment, DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK in Phoenix will feature the VC-Ez 26 Vertical Machining Center with a 12,000-rpm spindle and optional MAZATROL SmoothG CNC. The control allows for streamlined EIA/ISO G-code and conversational programming and includes machine simulation and 3D assist functions.

This Kentucky-built machine has Mazak’s “tool changeable” 60,000 rpm UltraSpindle, which is controlled through standard program codes for rpm and tool changing. The UltraSpindle allows for the flexibility of finishing parts with small diameter cutters at high feedrates as well as for aggressive roughing with the standard spindle. The UltraSpindle is available in 60,000 and 80,000-rpm models. 

As an Ez Series machine, the VC-Ez 26 is optimized for simple operation, fast and easy installation, enhanced ergonomics, stable and reliable part processing and long-term dependability. It accommodates workpieces up to 55.12" long (1400 mm), 24.02" (610 mm) wide, 22.4" (569 mm) tall and up to 3,306 lbs (1500 kg) in weight and features a compact footprint that measures only 113.8 sq ft (10.57 m²). 

To maximize productivity, manufacturers can attend the event and see the next-generation HCN-4000 NEO high-speed, high-precision horizontal machining center in action. It is extremely customizable, starting with its standard 18,000-rpm spindle for general machining. Optional spindles include a 15,000-rpm spindle for heavy-duty machining of difficult-to-cut materials; a 20,000-rpm spindle for small diameter tools and machining aluminum; and a high-speed 25,000-rpm version for versatile performance and high efficiency. A standard 40-tool magazine keeps the machine supplied with tools during extended machining, and larger-capacity options are available, including 60, 80, 120 or 160-tool magazines or a Mazak TOOL HIVE with 240 or 348 tools.
